Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Position/Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

Reports to:  Plant Manager



The maintenance supervisor ensures the safe and effective operation of all machinery and mechanical service equipment, including company production equipment/machinery, ventilating and heating systems, electrical, and all building equipment.




Possession of at least a high school diploma or GED is required and a post-secondary degree is preferred. Vocational school or technical training in electrical, industrial electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, welding is preferred. Valid state motor vehicle license to operate company vehicles truck, tow motors.


Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must work effectively with divergent types of people. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the staff, account representatives, company representatives, management, customers, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Sit, stand and/or kneel for extended time periods. Position involves standing most of the day. Able to climb and descend stairs numerous times in a shift. Ability to climb, rig, stoop, crouch and bend. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Carry, push, pull, reach and lift up to 60 lbs. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. On call 24 hours 7 days a week to handle break down and repairs.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, high pressure fluids, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
