General Description
The Senior Product Manager should be able to coordinate and provide technical data and information to the sales force concerning their product line. This data and information should include application techniques, approvals, roofing knowledge and competitive information. This person should be heavily involved in the training process concerning their product line as well as general roofing knowledge. To be able to communicate not only with the sales force but those outside of Garland who have questions concerning the products is another important trait for this position. In addition this position calls for someone who can effectively communicate with the lab and help develop new products that will increase sales and profit margins. Further the individual should develop and maintain relationships with toll manufacturers and private label companies where appropriate. The individual should also be responsible for mentoring and training of Product Managers. Senior Product Manager should also provide business and marketing direction for their product line, control product positioning, creation and elimination.
Job Requirements
- Extensive experience in the roofing/construction industry is mandatory.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Four-year degree in Marketing, Business, Scientific or related field is preferred.
- Computer Skills in word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- The ability to look a particular problem and creatively think of ways to correct that problem and then rapidly implement the solution.
- The willingness and eagerness to learn something new everyday.
- The ability to work on your own or as a team and follow a project from initial concept through implementation.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support - To provide answers to questions from the sales force concerning the Garland products, approvals, competitive information and roofing techniques.
- Expand and Improve Product Offering - To work with the lab and outside entities in the creation of new products or improve existing ones to help increase the quality, profitability, and sales.
- Marketing Support - Assist Marketing Department in the production of new brochures, data sheets, etc. that will help the sales force in increasing their knowledge about the product line.
- Assist the sales force in solving problems that they encounter. This may entail going to the job site for a visual inspection to make a proper assessment for a solution.
- Approvals - Have a complete understanding of the FM, UL, WH and Dade county approvals, testing procedures, etc.
- Training - To assist in training the new and seasoned members of the sales force.
