One of the hottest topics in the roofing industry is cool roofing. Cool roofing promotes the use of light colored roof surfacing materials to help reduce the amount of energy needed to cool buildings. Government studies have shown that white roofs require 40% less energy to cool a building than black roofs. In addition, white roofs can reduce peak cooling demands by up to 15%.
In 1999 the Environmental Protection Agency expanded their successful Energy Star® program to include commercial roofing systems. Not only was Garland a charter member of this program, but our R&D scientists were instrumental in working with the EPA and other manufacturers to establish minimum requirements for acceptance into this program. Garland ENERGY STAR qualified cool roofing products include:
R-Mer Lite®
Pyramic
Green Roofs
ENERGY STAR®*/Cool Roofs
Recycled/Recycleable Systems
Solar Roof Systems
SolarGrid Systems
