Restoration Treatments

There are thousands of roofing applications in North America that are approaching and passing the 10, 15, and 20-year points. Many of these systems’ protective layers have failed, resulting in a shortened roof life cycle. It has always been Garland’s philosophy that with regular preventative maintenance, any roof system should last well beyond the warranty period. To ensure this benchmark and to help provide building owners with the most economic and effective maintenance options, Garland offers a restoration treatment for practically any roof surface.Energizer application photo 1

1. Energizer

Energizer is a rubberized liquid membrane designed for restoring and upgrading the waterproofing and fire ratings on existing smooth surfaced SBS, APP, and built-up roof surfaces. Energizer restores the wearing surface of all these membranes, and in some cases, makes it superior to the original wearing surface. Please contact your local Garland Representative for specific application guidelines.

System Features

  • User Friendly- Energizer is a cold process product; therefore, there is no need for kettles or torches.
  • Extended Life Expectancy- Energizer restores smooth surfaced membranes and adds a high performance rubber to the wearing surface.
  • Cures Quickly- Because of Energizer high solids content, the coating cures within 30 days. Standard emulsions and solvent-based coatings can take up to six months to properly cure.
  • Polymer Modified- Ensures greater flexibility and performance characteristics in fluctuating climates.

WeatherScreen application photo 2. WeatherScreen

WeatherScreen is a rubberized, heavy-bodied, fiber reinforced, fire-rated restoration treatment, designed to restore gravel surfaced modified membrane and asphalt based BUR systems. WeatherScreen was designed to maximize an owner’s roofing investment by providing them with a superior roof restoration treatment for inclusion in their roof management programs.

An application of WeatherScreen will provide owners with a new protective sealant that will resist the weather better than many new roofs do. Please contact your local Garland Representative for specific application guidelines.

System Features

  • Adds Tensile Strength to Standard BUR Applications- When this product is used in place of standard hot-mopped asphalt, WeatherScreen increases the tensile strength and weathering capabilities of the roofing membrane.
  • Superior Fire Resistance- WeatherScreen is formulated with a superior fire retardant during the manufacturing process. This allows for a Factory Mutual Class A approval for use over existing or newly constructed modified bitumen or BUR roofs.
  • Minimizes Need for Roof Replacement- Timely application of WeatherScreen will ensure that the roof insulation and the building’s interior are kept dry and intact, extending the life of the roof.

VitaPly restoration application photo 3. VitaPly

VitaPly is a water-based roof restoration treatment, using propriety chemistry that is specifically designed to restore pliability to both tar and asphalt gravel surfaced built-up roof membranes. VitaPly is an emulsified blend of highly penetrating oils and additives that soften the top coating of weathered bitumen to revitalize its weatherproofing capabilities.

Please contact your local Garland Representative for specific application guidelines.

System Features

  • Environmentally Safe- Contains no asbestos or hydocarbon solvents. Cold application means that VitaPly is free from offensive odor.
  • Full Rejuvenation- Softens embrittled bitumen and makes oxidized felts resilient and watertight again.
  • U.L. Fire Rated- Applying VitaPly to an existing Class B or C roofing system, can upgrade the roof to a Class A fire rated system.
