HydroShell SA is a pre-fabricated, self-adhering wall panel underlayment that can also act as an air, vapor, and water barrier membrane. It comprises a durable, multi-layer polymer film coated with a proprietary rubberized asphalt adhesive. A release sheet protects the asphalt membrane and prevents the roll from sticking to itself while it is stored and handled. The release sheet is removed as the membrane is installed. HydroShell SA is specifically engineered for vertical applications where the membrane is protected from long-term ultraviolet exposure. It adheres aggressively to most clean, dry substrates, including metal, wood, vinyl, and masonry. HydroShell SA is available in 60 mil thickness. It can seal an entire wall, around penetrations like windows and doors, as a through-wall flashing or protect walls from the damaging effects of the elements.

Self-Adhered | Vertical Surface: Prime all wood, gypsum and concrete surfaces with Garland’s SA Primer at a rate of 0.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Prime all masonry surfaces to be waterproofed with Garla-Prime® at a rate of 0.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Apply the membrane in lengths up to 8 feet. On higher walls, apply the membrane in two or more sections. Overlap all seams a minimum 3” on the side laps and 6” on the head laps. Roll the membrane with a hand roller to ensure complete adhesion with no voids, wrinkles or fishmouths. Terminate the membrane at grade level. The top edge of the membrane should be secured with a termination bar or secured into a reglet. Seal all membrane laps with an appropriate asphalt based mastic. Penetration Flashing: Prime all surfaces to be flashed with Garla-Prime® at a rate of 0.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Then apply the HydroShell SA in the appropriate size for the application. Wall Panel Underlayment HydroShell SA is compatible with a wide range of insulation, drainage and protection products. HydroShell SA must be installed in 50 ̊ F (10 ̊ C) and rising weather; application in cool temperatures will negatively affect adhesion, and the installation should not proceed in the event that precipitation is probable during the application. Consult your local Garland representative or the Garland Technical Department for application recommendations. |

The rubberized adhesive layer with self-healing capabilities accommodates fasteners, staples, and screws if required.
This underlayment also contains a rubberized adhesive layer that offers excellent elongation capabilities and tensile strength to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the substrate.
HydroShell SA exhibits superior adhesion to poured concrete, concrete block, plywood, and exterior gypsum boards, simplifying installation and eliminating water migration under the membrane. It is also compatible with most construction sealants and primers.
