Drafter is responsible for developing roof plan and shop drawing packages. This position operates Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer systems, by updating and modifying drawings for pre-bid and construction.
Associates degree in Drafting and Design, or Technical certificate in AutoCAD drafting is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Ability to understand and interpret specifications and drawings for our scope of work. Must have a good knowledge of fabrication techniques, software and databases. A working knowledge of common sheet metal fabrication machine capabilities, such as press brakes, laser, plasma cutters, punches and associated weld equipment among powder paint coatings. Proficient skills in AutoCAD (Minimum of 2 years of use), Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications. Must be a self-starter willing to show initiative, motivated, strong work ethic, positive attitude. Ability to foresee problems and take corrective actions. Continued development of technical skills. Ability to work with customers, building strong, continued relationships. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Driving is a requirement for this position. Must have the ability to travel domestically, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license are required. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. Overnight domestic travel required.
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to- face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility and/or designated locations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner. Sit, walk, and/or stand for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/ construction chemicals and solvents. Must have the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver’s license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required.
