The Product Manager is responsible for driving all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, pricing, requirements, and product launch. They must be knowledgeable and effectively communicate product details, strategy, capabilities, application techniques, and market analysis on assigned product lines. This role works to guide cross-functional teams in the creation of products that improve customer experience and grow market share.
Follow the stage-gate process and ISO procedures for new product development
Perform product line rationalization to identify market gaps or redundancy
Manage product line SKUs, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), website content, and product pages
Conduct Voice of the Customer (VOC) interviews and turn feedback into innovation
Monitor industry codes and market trends
Provides consultation or expert advice to management, sales force, other departments, contractors and architects concerning products, approvals, competitive information and roofing techniques
Lead the development of Project Profiles and prioritize marketing efforts based on strategic relevance and market demand
Work with operations and supply chain to ensure product alignment
Work with marketing team to develop marketing and educational tools including videos, training materials, and app excellence
Assist sales personnel in making presentations to potential customers or interfacing with customers and competitors at trade shows or conferences
Assist in training the sales force and with job start-up for new products/systems

Experience in commercial construction and product management, preferably in roofing and/or cladding, is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required and a post-secondary degree in engineering, science, building and construction or architectural degree is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Preferred qualifications include the ability to speak and read Canadian French, a valid passport, and working knowledge of commercial/industrial roof system application, as well as the International Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada. Excellent communication and organizational skills. The ability to learn new concepts/procedures quickly. Must have effective communication skills and be able to troubleshoot, problem-solve, communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams routinely. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and working knowledge of ERP Systems and their use. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Driving is a requirement for this position. Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license are required. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. Overnight domestic and international travel required.
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to- face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility or assigned job locations is essential. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner. Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. Ability to climb ladders/extension ladders routinely. Ability to climb, traverse and maneuver across different roof levels while adhering to fall protection requirements as necessary. Must have the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver license, maintain a valid passport, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required.
