GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The shipping position is responsible for the loading and unloading of all incoming and outgoing materials and/or products. Additionally, shipping is responsible for pulling customer orders, compiling materials for shipment and scheduling incoming and outgoing product shipments.

CORE & ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Responsible for the packing and unpacking of all incoming and outgoing materials and/or products.
  • Schedules trucks for all incoming and outgoing product shipments.
  • Responsible for pulling orders, compiling materials and preparing products for shipment.
  • Ensures returned items are examined for damages and appropriately restocked.
  • Responsible for monitoring and restocking inventory, also recording the amount of liquid materials in stock.
  • Manages all outbound shipments.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, also follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Orders shipping supplies when necessary.
  • Performs all assigned tasks for other shipping members when necessary.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical degree or relevant trade certification is a plus. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Proven experience in shipping is preferred. Must possess the ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and manuals, along with a strong working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools. Must possess a solid understanding of production procedures, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail. Demonstrated teamwork, time management, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers are essential. Must be results-oriented, able to work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals, manage tight time constraints, and work both independently and within a team environment. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear) is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise, and effective manner with co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one, and group settings. Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods. The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 100 pounds with assistance. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Ability to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility.
