Introducing KEE-Stone Legacy

The Garland Company, Inc.®, a Garland Industries company manufacturing and distributing high-performance solutions for the commercial building envelope based in Cleveland, Ohio, announces the newest addition to its ketone ethylene ester membrane system: KEE-Stone® Legacy. KEE-Stone Legacy is a sustainably-designed, fleece-backed thermoplastic membrane that complies with ASTM D4434, Type III standards, featuring ELVALOY™ Ketone Ethylene Ester (KEE).

At Garland, our legacy products are defined by their sustainability-focused design, incorporating environmentally conscious raw materials. Legacy is often synonymous with quality and longevity, something that stands the test of time,” shared Garland’s Vice President, Brett Wygal. “True legacy involves taking responsibility for future generations; it is the 'ripple effect,’ a solution where today’s actions benefit future generations.” This is Garland’s holistic approach to sustainability that doesn't sacrifice performance.

KEE-Stone Legacy exemplifies sustainability through longevity. “The polymerically-plasticized ELVALOY compound above the scrim has been vetted through nearly a decade of performance in the field,” explained Garland’s Director of Research and Development, Julie Anne Geyer. This formula provides a PVC membrane with the durability of KEE above the scrim. The formulation is a tried-and-true solution with a decade of real-world performance. Geyer also noted that “The non-phthalate, bio-based liquid plasticizers below the scrim are composed of environmentally conscious materials and provide the system with improved flexibility.

The environmental stewardship of KEE-Stone Legacy, in partnership with DOW, is the industry’s first biobased ELVALOY,” shared Geyer. The PVC membrane utilizes no phthalates and actively diverts plastic from landfills by incorporating environmentally conscious raw materials into the formulation. The membrane utilizes advanced mass balance technology (MBT) to increase the use of renewable resources while ensuring high-quality performance.

Wygal highlighted, “With KEE-Stone Legacy, a durable product for a sustainable future, we’re giving our customers an opportunity to minimize their carbon footprint while ensuring their building is protected.
