VersiPly 40 is a high-strength puncture and fatigue-resistant base sheet that consists of two laminated layers of fiberglass reinforcement scrim coated by a high penetration index SBS-modified asphalt mixture. VersiPly 40 is designed as the base and interply layers in Garland’s multi-ply modified roof or hybrid modified system. VersiPly 40 can also be used as a nailable base sheet over approved substrates, as a base flashing for hot and cold-applied roof systems, or as a base and interply in Garland’s cold-applied Weatherking systems.

Hot-Applied	VersiPly 40 can be used with ASTM D 312, Type III or IV asphalt, Garland’s HPR All-Temp Asphalt or modified asphalt. Two plies of felt are solidly bonded to the approved substrate. The cap sheet is then solidly adhered to the two base layers of VersiPly 40 with mopping asphalt. VersiPly 40 can also be applied in Garland’s cold-applied Weatherking® or Green-Lock® membrane adhesive in the same two-ply and cap configuration. Complete specifications are available for multi-ply modified bitumen applications in hot asphalt, Weatherking and Green-Lock Membrane Adhesive.

Features

Superior Strength

The VersiPly 40 base sheet is reinforced with two layers of fiberglass. The superior strength provided by the fiberglass scrim resists the movement created by today’s modern buildings. In addition, the fiberglass scrim in VersiPly 40 provides tensile strength in excess of 200 pounds per inch in the machine and cross-machine direction. This translates to long-term resistance to splits and tears in the completed membrane roof system.

Advanced Rubber Technology

The modifier used in VersiPly 40 is SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene). When the SBS rubber is properly dispersed throughout the high-penetration asphalt, the rubber provides increased thermal shock resistance, heat resistance, elongation, and low-temperature flexibility. A special high-shear mixer is used in manufacturing to ensure proper dispersion.
